ORCA_X1_SWMC Machine Preset_Feb.15.1.2025
Released: January 26, 2025
Orca Slicer 2.3.1
Bambu Lab X1C
Legacy SteinWipe Motion Control For X1 Series & Orca Slicer (Discontinued)
Change Log
First formally-named Core release; the Orca Slicer variant of Core 0.
- Established the SWMC naming and testing system. First Orca release shipped under the [Month].[Day].[Version].[Year] format.
- New: reusable wipe macro architecture ({template_custom_gcode}). Every gcode section that needs a wipe calls one macro instead of duplicating scrub code.
- First appearance of chute tapping in SWMC. Taps the chute door at end of startup purge to knock down stuck purge material.
- New Orca-only section: Before Layer Change G-code with the add_wipe_cycle_for_specific_layer SteinSwitch. Hand-edit layer numbers to trigger forced wipes at specific print layers.
- New Orca-only section: Extrusion Role G-code for acceleration control based on extrusion role.
- Sidestepping purges; shifts left-to-right for more uniform purge distribution.
- Work light purge cycles; toolhead light activates during purges so the chamber camera can see what's happening.
- PA test line moved over build plate QR code (safety).
- Completely rewritten material change code; 15-20% reduction in flushing volume.
- Improved first-layer scanning; stock routine was dragging purge into prints; Core 0 hijacks it for a clean scan.
- User offsets at template level; enter calibration values once, applied across all prints.
- First-layer travel optimization; reduces stringing carried onto the print.
- Full Orca Slicer 2.2.0 support.
- 18 SteinSwitches total across 8 gcode sections; the largest feature count of any Core 0 release.
Notes
This is the Orca Slicer variant of the original Core 0 beta. Unlike the BBS sibling, this Orca release did not receive a Feb.15.2 stable successor; it stayed at version 1 through the Core 0 lifecycle. For Orca users running Core 0 on the X1C, this is the authoritative release.
Orca gets two gcode sections that BBS doesn't: Before Layer Change and Extrusion Role. The Before Layer Change section adds a SteinSwitch for triggering forced wipes at specific layer numbers you hand-edit into the gcode; useful for prints with color changes, detailed sections, or known trouble layers where a forced wipe helps. The Extrusion Role section handles acceleration settings based on what's being extruded (perimeter, infill, etc.).
Core 0 uses inline SteinSwitch toggles that you enable or disable by editing the gcode directly. This is different from the newer Core 1 release, which uses keyword-based configuration through printer notes. If you want the SSD architecture on Orca, the Orca Core 1 port is in development and will be added to the project when released.
Full user manual is linked in the Resources section above. The manual covers every SteinSwitch in this release with searchable gcode fingerprints for find-in-file navigation.
