Change Log
SteinWipe Pro Advanced Edition v3.0 - Initial release. Major redesign from the original V1 SteinWipe wiper mount.
Mounting system
- REPLACED: Single-piece bolt-in mount design replaced with a multi-part magnetic sliding bracket system. The base bracket bolts to the printer permanently; the wiper assembly and ProTab carrier slide into the bracket and lock magnetically.
- KEPT: Same three-hole mounting pattern as the V1 mount. Existing V1 holes work with the Advanced Edition; no re-drilling required for users upgrading.
- KEPT: V1 drill template is compatible with the Advanced Edition for fresh installations.
- KEPT: V1 backing plate M3 nut tray works behind the rear panel for the new mounting bracket.
Hardware integration
- NEW: ProTab integration. The original V1 mount had no ProTab support; the Advanced Edition includes a dedicated ProTab sliding mount and ProTab locking drawbar as part of the core system. Unlocks primetowerless AMS features in SWMC Pro.
- NEW: Adjustable ProTab height. The ProTab sliding mount can be repositioned vertically and locked with the drawbar; supports non-standard nozzle setups and printers with non-stock build plates.
- NEW: Magnetic engagement. Two 10x5x2 N35+ magnets in the bracket engage the wiper assembly and hold it in position without fasteners on the visible surface.
User experience
- NEW: Tool-less removal. Pull the wiper assembly out of the magnetic bracket by hand for cleaning or pad replacement. The original V1 mount required unbolting to remove for service.
- NEW: Repeatable positioning. Structural geometry in the magnetic bracket returns the wiper assembly to the same XY and Z position every reinstallation. The original V1 mount required re-running offset calibration after any unbolting.
- NEW: Hidden fasteners. The exterior of the assembly shows no visible screws once installed. The original V1 mount had three M3 BHCS visible on the exterior face.
Print specifications
- CHANGED: Print time increased from approximately 30 minutes (V1 single-piece) to approximately 2.5 hours (Advanced Edition four parts). The longer print time covers higher-tolerance settings and print-by-object sequencing required for the magnetic bracket and sliding fits to work correctly.
- CHANGED: Recommended material specified as PETG-HF. The original V1 mount worked acceptably in PLA, PETG, and PETG-HF; the Advanced Edition's tolerances and thermal exposure require PETG-HF for reliable operation.
- CHANGED: Print profile included as a Bambu Studio .3mf file. The V1 release shipped STLs only; users sliced with their own settings.
- KEPT: No supports, no brim, no raft. Same as the V1 mount.
- NEW: Print-by-object enabled in the provided profile. Each part finishes completely before the next starts; reduces risk of dislodgement during travel moves between parts.
Bill of materials
- NEW: 10x5x2 N35+ magnets (2). Not used in the V1 mount.
- NEW: BT2.6 x 8mm plastic fasteners (3). Not used in the V1 mount; these are the screws that ship with Bambu scraper blades, used for the ProTab locking drawbar.
- NEW: ProTab Contact (1). Not part of the V1 mount; provides the metallic dock surface for primetowerless AMS cycles.
- KEPT: M3 x 8mm BHCS (3) for mounting the bracket to the chamber wall. Same screws as the V1 mount.
- KEPT: M3 nuts (3) for the backing plate. Same as the V1 mount.
- KEPT: A1 wiper pad (1). Same pad as the V1 mount; same recess geometry preserves backward compatibility with users who have spare V1 pads on hand.
Carbon filter door access
- KEPT: Full access to the carbon filter door is maintained, same as the V1 mount. The Advanced Edition's geometry is designed around door clearance.
Compatibility with motion control code
- COMPATIBLE: SWMC Core 0 (Feb.15.2025 family) - All Core 0 wipe routines work with the Advanced Edition's wiper assembly. Core 0 does not use ProTab features; the ProTab sliding mount is installed but inactive in this configuration.
- COMPATIBLE: SWMC Core 1 (Apr.28.2025 family) - Full Core 1 SSD set works. ProTab features are not part of Core 1; the ProTab sliding mount is installed but inactive in this configuration.
- COMPATIBLE: SWMC Pro (Apr.28.2026 family) - Full SWMC Pro feature set including primetowerless AMS, dock-and-prime sequences, and ProTab integration. The Advanced Edition is the recommended hardware for SWMC Pro users; the ProTab sliding mount unlocks features that require the docking surface.
- COMPATIBLE: SWMCL Pause Preset (Apr.1.2025) - Pause routine works as expected.
- COMPATIBLE: SWMCL Chute Tapping Preset (May.17.2026) - Chute tapping routine works as expected.
What's not in this release
- DEFERRED: Tape-on no-drill magnetic install plate. Was listed in the original Mar 21 announcement as "coming soon"; not included in v1.0.0.
- DEFERRED: Updated drill template specifically for the Advanced Edition. The V1 drill template is compatible and is what ships with the v1.0.0 download; a redesigned template is planned for a future version.
- DEFERRED: Updated backing plate M3 nut tray specifically for the Advanced Edition. The V1 nut tray is compatible and is what ships with v1.0.0; a redesigned tray is planned for a future version.

Notes
This is the first release of the SteinWipe Pro Advanced Edition; a major redesign of the original SteinWipe V1 mount that introduces magnetic engagement, ProTab integration, and tool-less removal.
If you are already running the original SteinWipe V1 mount on your printer, the Advanced Edition installs into your existing mounting holes. No re-drilling required; the mounting pattern is identical. The full installation can be completed in roughly 15 minutes.
If this is a fresh installation, the V1 drill template included in the download establishes the mounting hole positions on the rear chamber wall. The V1 backing plate M3 nut tray (also included) holds the M3 nuts behind the panel while you tighten the M3 BHCS from the chamber side.
The Advanced Edition is one of two wiper mount designs in the SteinWipe Pro hardware line. The Standard Edition is the bolt-in single-piece refinement of the V1 mount; the Advanced Edition is the magnetic sliding bracket system covered here. Both use the same V1-pattern mounting holes and are compatible with the same SWMC code releases. The choice between them comes down to whether you value the bolt-in simplicity of the Standard Edition or the tool-less removal and adjustable ProTab height of the Advanced Edition.
This release ships as a hardware download package; STL files plus an optimized Bambu Studio print profile. Print time is approximately 2.5 hours using the provided profile. Material is PETG-HF; print without supports, brim, or raft, with print-by-object enabled.
Most SWMC Pro features that rely on the ProTab require the Advanced Edition (or the Standard Edition with its integrated ProTab) installed and calibrated. Core 1 and Core 0 users will benefit from the wiper assembly's improved repeatable positioning and tool-less cleaning, but will not use the ProTab portion of the assembly. SWMC Pro users get the full feature set the hardware was designed to support.
Future versions will address items currently deferred from v1.0.0; the no-drill magnetic install plate, an updated drill template specifically for the Advanced Edition, and an updated backing plate nut tray. Owners of v1.0.0 will receive subsequent versions automatically; the file naming convention (SteinWipe_Pro_Advanced_v[X.Y.Z]_[date]) will indicate the version of any download.
